How much will I make per sale?
Your profit on Printful depends on how you price your products and how much your costs are. When you sell a product, you collect the retail price from your customer and then pay Printful for the product, fulfillment, and shipping — the difference is your profit.
What you pay with Printful
On Printful, most of the core features are free to use — you only pay when an order is fulfilled.
Costs that go into a sale:
Product base price – This includes the blank item and one standard print or embroidery placement.
Shipping – Calculated separately based on product type and destination.
Taxes – Charged based on where your customer is located and may need to be collected or remitted.
Extra print areas or custom features – Additional print placements and custom inside/outside labels may incur extra charges.
Setting your profit
Your profit formula is simple:
Retail price – (Printful cost + shipping + taxes + fees) = Your profit
Because you choose the retail price in your store, you have full control over how much profit you make on each sale.
Tip: Before publishing products to your store, you can preview the estimated profit and profit margin and adjust pricing to reach your goals.
Factors to consider when pricing
When you decide on your retail price, think about:
Target audience and market pricing — What similar products sell for online.
Shipping strategy — If you offer free shipping, include those costs in your price.
Sales channel fees — Marketplace fees, payment processing, and platform costs.
Additional costs — Marketing, subscription tools, taxes, or optional services.
Review prices regularly since production costs, shipping rates, and expenses can change over time.
