How can I replace (switch) products?

With the Replace feature, you can easily switch to a different product model without affecting your existing product details. For instance, you might switch from a Bella+Canvas 3001 to a Gildan 5000 while keeping your listing, SEO, and customer favorites intact.

Note

If you want to switch the product type from one category to another (e.g., from a poster to a t-shirt), we recommend creating a new product from scratch instead of using the Replace feature. This will help avoid any unexpected errors that may arise due to the differences in product backgrounds.

The product URL and listing will remain unchanged on the store side, and all SEO and product history will be preserved when making these changes. For instance, if your customers favorited your Etsy product and you switch the product in Printful, your favorites on Etsy will not be lost.

Step 1: Choose a product you wish to replace and select Replace

In the My products section, choose a product and select the Replace option from the menu.

Step 2: Select the product from the catalog you want to use for replacement

Step 3: Check and readjust your designs, if necessary

Next, your existing design will be automatically applied to the new print area. Note that the print area size may differ from the previous one, so you may need to adjust the design placement. You can also add more color or size variants to the product during this step. Click Save product when done.

Note

Due to differences in print area size and variants, some placement adjustments will likely be necessary on your design for different colors and sizes.

Step 4: Readjust the other product details, if necessary

The previous product description and title will be saved, but can be updated if needed. You can also adjust the product price here.

Step 5: Publish the product

As the final step, publish the product to save the changes.

Tip: For Etsy users, a new shipping profile is automatically created during the replacement process. Please keep this in mind if you’re using custom shipping rates on Etsy. If so, you may want to select an existing shipping profile from the drop-down menu instead.
